Pixeldust was invited to produce a 3D animated advertisement for Nucelar Energy Institute’s new ad campaign, See the Light. The ad seeks to help viewers think differently about how to best reach a carbon-free future, and to highlight the importance of investing in nuclear energy to secure that future.
STORYTELLING WITH LIGHT AND SHADOW
In a dark, mysterious room, a lone lightbulb sputters to life. Later revealed to be one amongst a large grid of lightbulbs, a portion of the lightbulbs pulse on, symbolizing the world’s current use of carbon-free energy. To urge the viewer to consider the critical role nuclear energy will need to play in the future, more and more rows of lightbulbs spark to life with increasing intensity. Once every bulb is lit, they glow brighter still, in an awe-inspiring display of incandescence. The message is clear – to address the climate crisis, it will require a diverse carbon-free energy system of wind, solar, and nuclear.
AN IMMERSIVE APPROACH TO MESSAGING
To support the narration with text, Pixeldust animators opted to place the text within the scene, rather than on top. The text is effected by the lighting changes, while still remaining legible at all times. With clever placement, the text is easily read without occluding the 3D animation.
