Manuel was born in Bern, Switzerland, and studied graphic design at the School of Visual Arts in Bern. He later moved to LA and studied directing at the American Film Institute Conservatory (AFI) in Los Angeles. His career began at the on air promotion of Switzerland’s broadcast tv network SF. After a few years he moved to Germany where he designed and directed show titles and promo campaigns for German tv channels such as ZDF, Sat.1 and Pro 7. In 2000 he was one of four founders of the animation studio Regardez! based in Zurich.
Since moving to the United States in 2004, Manuel freelanced for design studios and agencies on both coasts, and joined Pixeldust in 2012 as a freelancer. He is based in their New York City art direction studio PX2. Manuel is an integral part of the Pixeldust team, where he develops design concepts, creates motion graphics animations, and designs logos with Adobe Creative Suite, Cinema 4D, and Element 3D.
Manuel has received numerous awards and nominations throughout the years, including Cannes Lions Young Director Award, ADC Switzerland, Promax & BDA Awards, Int. Eyes & Ears Awards, and Swiss EDI Award. Outside of work, one of his feats includes watching all 73 episodes of HBO’s Game of Thrones in the span of three weeks!
